I didn't want to wait until my obituary to raise funds and awareness for Sarcoma research! So, today, I am starting "SNAKS FOR SARCOMA!"
I purchase small items, like fun-size candy bars and crackers and put them in a basket near my desk at the office. A dip into the basket is 25 cents! I will send all the proceeds to Beat Sarcoma! It's easy and everyone loves a cheap little snack at work....please share the idea and get involved! Be Well!

57 yo female diagnosed April 2010 with lt distal femur sarcoma. Found a mass in lt. Kidney & post lt.nephrectomy found to be "highly suggestive of a sclerosing epitheloid fibrosarcoma or low grade fibromyxoid sarcoma". July 2011 ct follow up revealed a mass growing and possible metastic disease rt lung. Underwent rt. Mini-thoracotomy with a wedge resection. Details to be discussed on post op visit sept 8., but was consitent with prior findings. Interesting to read Jackie story on aug 1 guestbook. I do have a fibroids tumor. No mention of this being of harm but will bring it up. Keep fighting!

My name is Jackie. I was Dx with MFS in my lung Sept 2010. It was found to actually be a met from a uterine (Fibroid? NOT!) tumor discovered via PET scan just before lung surgery. I had a complete hyterectomy 10/2/10 and lobectomy 10/26/10 and had gem/tax chemo for 5 months afterwards. My scans in June were clear and the final diagnosis was Undifferentiated Sarcoma (negative for muscle markers, positive for stromal cell markers). I am trying to stay positive and believe that I will stay negative! If anyone wants to email me, please feel free! In the meantime, get the word out that menopausal women should NOT have fibroids any more! I hear this over and over again! Warm wishes! Jackie

I lost my mom to Metastatic Uterine Leiomyosarcoma on September 10, 2009 - about 11 months after her initial diagnosis. I've participated and volunteered for Beat Sarcoma's annual fundraisers - it's always my pleasure to help out with with anything that will contribute to the funding of any research and any possible treatment breakthroughs for all future fighters of this forgotten cancer in hopes that no one will ever have to lose a loved one to this, or any, cancer again.

My daughter Naomi died October 17, 2010. She was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Sarcoma in 2006. After 10 months of treatment and 3 years of remission it returned. After another 10 months of treatment she lost the battle. Naomi was 8 years old.

I am concerned about recurrence on previously radiated tissue and long term healing after surgery.

I was diagnosed with a liposarcoma in my right lower leg, 14 years ago. I am fortunate to say that it never spread and I hope that it is gone for good. I received radiation therapy and had a wide excision cut surgery, so I have a large scar but I am alive and that is all that counts.
