Beat Sarcoma, the Overlooked Cancer
Welcome to BeatSarcoma, a volunteer initiative launched in July 2007. Our mission is to raise funds for sarcoma-specific research  and to support anyone who is dealing with sarcoma. We work directly with clinicians and researchers to identify un-funded high priority and high impact programs relevant to sarcoma. This area of cancer research is still in its infancy so your contribution will make a BIG difference (find out why) - every dollar will yield A LOT of results. We are going to beat sarcoma.

Be there as it happens.

- 20% of childhood cancers are sarcomas. They affect also many young adults. Sarcoma destroys so many lives before they have had time to blossom.

- Sarcoma gets less than 1% of cancer research funds - this is not enough. Sarcoma research is years behind compared to that for other cancers.

- 100% of money raised by BeatSarcoma goes to research, regardless of the initiative. And not just any research. Meet Dr. Husain and her team on our research update page.

Bring more research focus
Our first goal is to fund this important project at the Stanford Cancer Center to help physicians make better treatment recommendations.
 B
eatSarcoma intends to fund a new Sarcoma Research Center at a major medical center and give the disease more of the focus it needs and patients the hope they deserve.

BeatSarcoma raced in the Pacific Cup and helped raise awareness and funds
In 2008, two BeatSarcoma volunteers travelled across the Pacific on a 27-foot sailboat to raise funds and awareness of sarcoma. They raced in the Pacific Cup 2008 double-handed. They covered the race expenses so all donations support BeatSarcoma. We feel that this endeavor is a great metaphor for our first project - daring and extremely rewarding.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a sarcoma, we urge you to consult an expert who sees many Sarcoma patients each month.  Such doctors are found at specialist hospitals particularly NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.
